What:Latino Summit is a program led by a group of dedicated education professionals in conjunction with support from Latino professionals that give of themselves time and effort to make a difference in the Latino Community. Each year, this group of educators hosts a “Latino Summit”: an annual conference where approximately 500 students from Northwest Community High Schools are assembled at Harper College to listen to keynote speakers and interact with panelists. These panels consist of approximately 50 Latino professionals and 40 Latino college students as well as a presentation from college representatives.

Why:The purpose of Latino Summit is to improve academic achievement among Latino students and to encourage the pursuit of higher education. Through role models, we hope to motivate students to stay in school and to set goals beyond high school. Additionally, we hope to increase the number of Latino students pursuing post-secondary education.

When:This year, because of the global pandemic, we will have to do things differently. The summit has been moved to the Spring of 2021 and we will be broadcasting virtually. However, our mission continues to be the same, Educate, Empower, and Enrich our youth.
